Full Stack Founding Engineer

We’re looking for an ambitious founding engineer to join our team and help us build technology that will be scaled to tens of millions of clinicians around the world.

The role

We are looking for a highly motivated Founding Engineer with deep expertise in building products from the ground up. You'll be joining a fast-paced team focused on delivering solutions to real-world problems through rapid iteration and close customer collaboration. If you are successful, you will have the opportunity to grow into Head of Engineering as we scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the entire development cycle: from initial concept, coding, testing, and deployment, to maintenance and continuous improvements.
  • Collaborate closely with the founding team to define product vision, features, and technical requirements.
  • Architect and build scalable, secure, and high-performance applications from the backend to the frontend.
  • Deploy, monitor, and maintain infrastructure on cloud platforms.
  • Drive technical decision-making, including selection of frameworks, tools, and best practices.
  • Help scale our engineering team as we grow, fostering a strong engineering culture.
  • Integrating and innovating with LLMs to power AI-driven solutions.
  • Working closely with customers to iterate and ship quickly, with a focus on delivering value.
  • Setting and maintaining a high bar for quality while working independently to get things done.

  • Frontend: React Native Expo (Web, Android, iOS)
  • Backend: Nest.js
  • Database: Firestore (NoSQL)
  • Infrastructure: GCP

*Note that you can get a different title than "Founding Engineer" if you want for career trajectory purposes, like if you're currently a Director of Engineering we can make you Senior Director of Engineering, but the job will still be a hardcore coding position.

Who we're looking for

Must haves:

  • Expertise with TypeScript & React.
  • Experience in building and scaling infrastructure systems.
  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies.
  • Ability to work from 0 to 1, taking projects from concept to production.
  • A passion for problem-solving and delivering high-impact results in a startup environment.
  • Interest in the healthcare space with a desire to provide a meaningful impact to patients’ lives.
  • Ability to work in-person in the San Francisco Bay Area most of the time. Daily start and end times are flexible, for example you can start at 7am and leave early to avoid traffic or start at 10am and leave late if you want to go to breakfast with a friend. Ideally most weeks you'd be in the office 5 days a week if you live right in San Francisco, but if you live a bit further out and are really talented you could work a couple days from home.

Nice to haves:

  • Previous experience as an early software startup employee or founder.
  • Experience scaling to 10+ engineers, with strong team culture and development opportunities.
  • Have shipped a production app which uses LLMs.
  • Past work building software for a highly-regulated environment.
  • Be really smart.

Our founders:

Prior successful exits with health tech and augmented reality startups, the latter to $76B NASDAQ-100 component Cadence Design Systems. Professionally advised on over $78B in mergers and acquisitions in the healthcare and life sciences space. Master’s degrees in healthcare management and biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University. Clinical experience at $12B healthcare system Intermountain Health. Additional experience with Neuralink, Meta, Becton Dickinson, Under Armour, Deloitte, KPMG, Cadence, and 500 Startups. A passion for bringing new technologies to market that can help people around the world.

Our progress:

We already have contracts to implement our software at 34 skilled nursing facilities, with 49 more on our waitlist. We have secured a partnership with the largest software system for skilled nursing facilities. We have raised enough funding to easily meet our current expenses and are projected to get to profitability in the next year.
